to Black Music America “The Rhythm of the Net”. In 2008 we celebrate
our 10th anniversary. The purpose of this site is to recognize,
preserve and promote the legacy and contribution of Black music and
its artist worldwide. BMA goal is to provide our visitors with
information, education and connection to Black Music America. Our
site explores the popular Black music genres of Rhythm and Blues,
Black Gospel, Jazz, Blues and Hip-Hop. Each channel highlights
legendary and contemporary artists, up to date industry news, and
listings of music events. To date, BMA has experienced more than 25

Jerry Wexler Legendary R&B Pioneer

Wexler legendary record producer credited with coining the term
Rhythm and Blues for Billboards Black Music charts and exposing the
careers of the Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin Wilson Pickett and many
others has died at 91.
Among the standards produced by Wexler: Franklin's "Respect, Percy
Sledge's ballad "When A Man Loves A Woman" and Wilson Pickett's "In
the Midnight Hour,".
The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin said in a 1980 RollingStone
Magazine interview ” our collaborations were "among my favorite
sessions. I feel the things we did together were dynamite." Wexler
was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Famed R&B
artist Solomon Burke told the Associated Press that Wexler “opened
the doors and windows in America to Black Music, he made everybody
listen”
