The Rance Allen Group
Rance Allen founded the Rance Allen Group in Detroit in the 1960s and has fronted the band with his soulful, soaring vocals ever since. The traditionally trained black gospel group was the first traditional gospel group to incorporate rock, jazz, and soul into their music The Rance Allen Group scored a Top 30 R&B hit in 1979 with "I Belong to You”. The group’s most recent chart topper was Miracle Worker in spring 2000.

The Winans
The Winans,
are an American Gospel music quartet from Detroit, Michigan consisting of brothers Marvin, Carvin, Michael and Ronald Winans. Their style was noted for its crossover efforts and received airplay on R&B radio. The group's last recording was in 1995, but they have subsequently been involved in various Winans family projects where they are credited as "The Winans" (e.g. November 2000's Christmas: Our Gifts To You)

The Mighty Clouds of Joy
The Mighty Clouds of Joy
an American gospel quartet were formed in 1960 and started out in a tradition-based style. Eventually they added soul, R&B, and rock flourishes into their musical mix (one of their early hits was produced by Philadelphia soul czars Gamble and Huff) without diluting the essential religious essence of their material. They were the first gospel group to add bass, drums and keyboards to the standard quartet accompaniment of solo guitar. The long-lived group flourished throughout the rest of the 20th century, scoring numerous Grammy awards and nominations, as well as several hit albums along the way.

(born June 15, 1969), better known by his stage name Ice Cube, is an American rapper, MC, songwriter, actor, screenwriter, and film director. Regarded as one of the greatest hip hop artists of all time, he began his career as a founding member of the rap group N.W.A, and later launched a successful solo career in music and cinema. Credited with having helped originate gangsta rap, he remains one of the most visible West Coast rappers today.

In 1990, SBK rereleased Hooked as To the Extreme which included “Ice Ice Baby which became the first rap single to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jazz Crusaders
Jazz Crusaders, In 1960 pianist Joe Sample, drummer Stix Hooper, saxophonist Wilton Felder and trombonist Wayne Henderson formerly from Houston relocated to Los Angeles, CA. and formed the group "The Jazz Crusaders. Bass guitarist "Pops" Popwell and guitarist Larry Carlton joined the band and they incorporated the electric bass and electric guitar into their music. The group shortened their name to "The Crusaders" in 1971, and adopted a jazz-funk style and ushered in the genre that came to be known as "jazz fusion"

Donald Byrd
Donaldson Toussaint L'Ouverture Byrd II (born December 9, 1932) is an American jazz trumpeter. His playing career included performing with Lionel Hampton, Art Blakely, Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk. In the 1970s Mr. Byrd teamed up with the Mizell Brothers, they produced Black Byrd, which was enormously successful and became Blue Note Records' highest-ever selling album. In 1993, Byrd teamed up with Gang Starr MC Guru for the track "Loungin'" on the Jazzmatazz project.

The Isley Brothers
The Isley Brothers are a Grammy-winning American R&B/soul group who are one of the few groups to have long-running success on the Billboard charts placing a charted single in every decade since 1959 and as of 2006 was still charting successfully. The original group formed in 1954 started as a gospel music group. In 1957, the brothers moved to New York and began recording secular music. 1973 the group formed a six-member lineup.

The Ojays
The Ojays, formed their group in Canton, Ohio in 1958 while attending high school. Originally known as The Triumphs, followed by The Mascots, the friends began recording with "Miracles" in 1961, which was a moderate hit in the Cleveland area. They took the name "the O'Jays", in tribute to radio disc jockey Eddie O’Jay in 1963. In 1972, they scored with their first million-seller, "Back Stabbers", which included the #1 Pop smash, "Love Train In 2005, the O'Jays were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Pointer Sisters
are a Grammy Award-winning Pop/R&B recording act from Oakland, California that achieved mainstream success during the 1970s and 1980s. Spanning over three decades together, their repertoire has included diverse genres from pop and soul to country and rock. Their self titled first album, was released in 1973 and received positive reviews, with the group being lauded for their versatility and originality. In 1983, the Pointer Sisters released what became their biggest-selling album ever with Break Out, which received four Billboard top 10’s in a row for Automatic, I’m So Excited, Jump (for my love) and Neutron Dance.
